Malware Issues, Again

We regret to inform our users that we have been targeted by malware attacks again. For now, we are forcing all users to log out. We apologise for the inconvenience, but everyone will have to login again. We also HIGHLY recommend that all users change their passwords, especially if password-sharing between sites.

We are undergoing forensics right now to determine the source of the breach. So far we have not found any evidence of ad injection scripts or similar. The attackers were able to change the database connected to the website. They did not seem to alter the database, but instead pointed mangaread to a different database. Unfortunately we are unable to determine what pages or scripts the redirected database led to. This is due to us being unable to load mangaread at all during the compromise. However, we cannot guarantee the same for all users.

Again, we apologise for the inconvenience. We will post updates when we have located the cause of the breach and our plans to prevent such incidents in the future.

Sincerely, the Mangaread team.

UPDATE: 2025/11/02
Although not 100%, preliminary examination indicates the attackers may have exploited the Litespeed Cache plugin. For now we have removed the offending plugin and will conduct further testing. This may slightly affect loading times for some users, but unfortunately we have no choice.

UPDATE: 2025/11/04
At this juncture we have no further evidence of malware. We will not be using the Litespeed Cache plugin until it is updated. Thank you for your continued support.
